NEW DELHI: The Indian cricket team is gearing up for their opening T20I encounter against Bangladesh, set to take place in Gwalior on Sunday. As part of their preparations, the players participated in an intense fielding practice session led by T Dilip, the fielding coach, and Ryan ten Doeschate, the assistant coach.
The BCCI on Friday shared a video on official X handle that provided a glimpse into the team’s rigorous training regimen.
“Gearing up in Gwalior with radiant rhythm and full flow.
Team India hones their fielding skills ahead of the India vs Bangladesh T20I series opener.”
Dilip has made significant strides in enhancing the fielding performance of the Indian cricket team. His introduction of the Best Fielder Award during the World Cup matches has served as a motivating factor for the players to excel in this crucial aspect of the game.
During the training session, Dilip was seen providing guidance to the Indian squad, stressing the significance of proper technique.
“Get your feet where you are throwing, as simple as that. I am not looking at intensity, but rhythm and flow are something we have to achieve today. Once we break into that, we’ll move and take 15 catches,” he said.
Hardik Pandya, the all-rounder, and Varun Chakravarthy, the spinner, were observed dedicating substantial effort during the practice session. Head coach, Gautam Gambhir, closely supervised the players as they participated in their fielding drills.
Moreover, Suryakumar Yadav along with Abhishek Sharma and Ravi Bishnoi were witnessed making some impressive catches during the practice.
After the conclusion of the Test series, India and Bangladesh will face each other in a three-match T20I series. Suryakumar will continue to lead the Indian side in the shortest format of the game. The team also has Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma as the wicketkeeper-batters for the series.
The T20I series will commence with the first match in Gwalior on October 6, followed by the second and third matches, which will take place on October 9 in Delhi and October 12 in Hyderabad, respectively.
