NEW DELHI: Rocky Flintoff, son of the famous England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, made headlines on Thursday as the youngest-ever County Championship debutant for Lancashire.
The 16-year-old showcased his talent in his first-class debut against Surrey at The Oval.
Rocky came to bat at No. 4 when Lancashire was struggling at 33/2 in the 11th over. He faced a challenging start against the seasoned bowler Sam Curran.Rocky showed patience, playing seven consecutive dot balls before finally getting off the mark. His persistence paid off as he gradually found his rhythm and hit three boundaries, showcasing his potential and technique.
However, Rocky’s promising start was cut short as he was dismissed for 32 by Jordan Clark in the 30th over. Sai Sudharsan took a brilliant catch at point to end Rocky’s knock. His dismissal left Lancashire at 98/4, leaving them in a tough spot. Surrey’s bowlers continued to dominate the game, eventually bowling out Lancashire for a total of 204.
