Rain washes out England-Australia T20I series finale |

NEW DELHI: Persistent rain on Sunday forced the abandonment of the third Twenty20 match between England and Australia at Old Trafford.
The match, scheduled to start at 2:30 pm local time, was called off without even toss happening in Manchester.
Both the toss and the match were delayed as rain fell throughout the morning, creating deep puddles on the covers that protected the pitch.
The official cut-off time for a minimum five-overs-per-side match was set at 5:46 pm.
However, a fresh downpour just before a planned pitch inspection led the umpires to call off the match at 4:18 pm.
The series ended in a 1-1 draw.
England’s win in the second T20 match in Cardiff, led by Liam Livingstone’s score of 87, followed Australia’s victory in the opening match in Southampton.
England will next play a five-match one-day international series against Australia, starting at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on Thursday.
