PM Narendra Modi congratulates Rubina Francis for securing bronze at Paralympics | Paris Paralympics News

NEW DELHI: As para-shooter Rubina Francis bagged a bronze medal at the Paris Paralympics, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya congratulated her for the achievement.
Rubina Francis finished third in the P2 – Women’s 10M Air Pistol SH-1 final with a total of 211.1 points.
PM Modi wished the shooter on success, highlighting her focus, determination, and historical significance.Rubina became the first Indian female to win a para-shooting medal in pistol events.

Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also extolled Rubina for turning the shooting range into a “stage of glory” and for being a trailblazer in Indian para-shooting.

Javanmardi Sareh of Iran won the gold medal with 236.8 points, while Turkey’s Ozgan Aysel secured the silver with 231.1 points.
Earlier in the qualification round, Rubina secured the seventh position with a total of 556 points, scoring 90, 90, 95, 92, 95, and 94 in six rounds.
The Paris Paralympics have been eventful for Indian shooters.
On Friday, reigning champion Avani Lekhara won gold in the women’s 10m air rifle final with a personal best of 249.7 points. Shooters Mona Agarwal and Manish Narwal also added to India’s medal tally with a bronze and silver in their respective events.
In track events, Preethi Pal also claimed a bronze medal in the women’s T35 100m race, clocking a personal best of 14.21 seconds.
During the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, the Indian contingent won five medals in shooting, including two gold, one silver, and two bronze.
