Pakistan Vs Bangladesh: Watch: Pakistan’s fielding woes continue, dropped a ‘regulation’ catch in second Test against Bangladesh

Pakistan’s fielding issues came to light again during the second Test match against Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Saud Shakeel dropped a straightforward catch on the very first ball of Bangladesh’s innings, bowled by Mir Hamza to Shadman Islam. This missed opportunity denied Pakistan an early breakthrough and left the team visibly frustrated.
The dropped catch happened when Mir Hamza delivered a perfect ball that angled towards the off-stump and moved away late. This caught Shadman Islam by surprise, resulting in a thick outside edge. The ball flew directly to Saud Shakeel at gully, who fumbled it twice before it fell to the ground. To compound the error, Saim Ayub, positioned at fourth slip, had a chance to grab the rebound off Shakeel’s hands but reacted too slowly, missing the opportunity.
WATCH:
This error occurred at a crucial juncture for Pakistan, who were already under pressure after being bowled out for 274 runs in their first innings earlier on Day 2. The early drop allowed Bangladesh to start their innings without immediate setbacks.
The reaction from the Pakistani players was one of shock and frustration. Captain Shan Masood was seen expressing his disbelief, while the rest of the team looked visibly disappointed. Even on-field umpire Richard Kettleborough was seen hiding his face after the dramatic moment.
“Regulation catch,” echoed the commentators, highlighting the simplicity of the missed opportunity.
Pakistan’s fielding has been a point of concern for some time, and this latest lapse added to the team’s troubles. With the second Test still in progress, Pakistan will need to significantly improve their fielding efforts to bounce back and put Bangladesh under pressure.
