NEW DELHI: A hilarious incident unfolded during Australia’s Sheffield Shield match between New South Wales and South Australia when star bowler Nathan Lyon was spotted rummaging through the bushes in search of a lost ball.
During the game, a batter hit the ball with such force that it soared over the fence. Lyon searched for the ball but initially retrieved the wrong one.
The video footage shows Lyon discovering a white ball.Shortly after, his teammates arrived to assist him, but their efforts bore no result.
Cricket Australia shared the videos on Instagram and wrote… “Swipe across to see the 🐐 having more luck on the field than he did in the bushes 😅 #SheffieldShield.”
Lyon is set to take the field in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, with the first Test scheduled to start in Perth on November 22.
In recent years, India have gained the upper hand in the series, winning the last four encounters against Australia, including two victories on Australian soil during the 2018-19 and 2020-21 seasons.
Lyon also shared his thoughts on wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant‘s batting style and his plans to counter his aggressive approach in the upcoming series.
“You’re bowling against someone like Rishabh Pant, who is electric. He’s got all the skill in the world. As a bowler, your room for error is so small. So you’ve got to be good. It’s a challenge as a bowler if I’m going to get hit for six. I’m not afraid about getting hit for six.
“The challenge is that I can provide the batters and try and keep someone like Rishabh in his crease and potentially try and get him to defend me a lot more and hopefully bring a couple of chances along the way,” Lyon told Star Sports.
