Indian duo of Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar wins archery bronze at Paralympics | Paris Paralympics News

NEW DELHI: The Indian archery duo of Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar clinched a bronze medal at the Paralympics after a close 156-155 win over Italy’s Eleonora Sarti and Matteo Bonacina in the mixed team compound archery competition.
The victory marks only the second time India has secured a Paralympic medal in archery. Harvinder Singh was the first Indian to win an archery medal at the Paralympics, earning a bronze at the Tokyo Games three years ago.

The Indians seized the bronze after Sheetal’s shot was reassessed and upgraded.
With only four arrows remaining, the Indian team was trailing Italy by a point.

Despite Sarti’s strong performance, her partner Bonacina struggled under pressure.
The Indian pair held on to emerge winners in the end, showcasing their resilience and determination.
Sheetal and Rakesh’s victory came after a disappointing semifinal loss to Iran’s Fatemeh Hemmati and Hadi Nori, where they were defeated in a dramatic shoot-off.
