‘Shaheen Afridi should go and play first-class cricket’: Former Pakistan cricketer slams Pakistan’s star pacer | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali believes that Shaheen Afridi should take a break from playing after his lackluster performance in the first Test against Bangladesh, which Pakistan lost by 10 wickets.
In the first innings of the match, Shaheen managed to take only two wickets while conceding 88 runs. His wickets came towards the end of the innings, dismissing Mehidy Hasan Miraz and sent Hasan Mahmud back for an 18-ball duck.
Shaheen’s poor form has been a concern since the T20 World Cup earlier this year, where he struggled to make an impact.
Throughout the tournament, he took only five wickets in four matches at an average of 21.00.
“Shaheen Afridi should be rested 100 per cent. He should go and play first-class cricket. He should be rested. Ali S put in a lot of effort. Pakistan failed in bowling, fielding and batting. They beat us in all departments. It is wrong to say that the team had a bad day,” Basit said on his YouTube channel.
Bangladesh savored a momentous occasion in their cricketing journey as they reflected on their triumph over Pakistan. The victory was particularly significant considering their previous record against the opposition, having endured 12 losses and securing a solitary draw in their 14 prior meetings.
With this win, Bangladesh have now overcome all Test-playing nations except for India and South Africa.
