1st Test: Will rain delay inevitable India win in Chennai on Day 4 against Bangladesh? | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Bad light caused by dark cloud cover forced early stumps on Day 3 of the first India vs Bangladesh Test in Chennai on Saturday.
As India tightened their grip in the Chepauk Test, a cloud cover, in the final session of the day, forced early close of play with 10 overs left in the day.
And in some bad news, showers are also predicted on Sunday which may delay India’s bid for a victory push over Bangladesh and a 1-0 lead in the series.
While covers were put on after the close of play on the third day, overnight rain and thunderstorms were predicted in Chennai.
There is also a forecast of cloudy weather throughout the fourth day of the Test, which is Sunday, which might be a little disheartening for the Indian team.
According to the Weather Channel, rain is expected in Chennai after mid-night which might carry on until 5 am in the morning.

If that happens, there are chances of a delayed start, depending on how fast the groundsmen can get the field of play ready.
At the scheduled start time of 9:30 am IST, the weather is expected to remain cloudy which will remain the same throughout the day.
In the case of overcast skies and no rain during the play time, India might benefit as the conditions are likely to favour fast bowling.
A possibility of a start-stop game is also a likely scenario in which case, the Indian team will look to wrap up the game as quickly as possible.
At Stumps on Day 3, Bangladesh were 158 for 4, requiring another 357 runs in their steep chase of 515.
Ravichandran Ashwin bagged three while Jasprit Bumrah grabbed a wicket on the third day as the visitors chased an unlikely win in Chennai.
Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and star all-rounder were unbeaten on 51 and 5 respectively when the umpires called off play on the third day.
