NEW DELHI: Mumbai Indians stirred excitement on Monday with a viral video posted on X (formerly Twitter) showcasing Jasprit Bumrah’s iconic bowling action.
The post, part of a “10-year challenge“, features a side-by-side comparison of Bumrah’s bowling action from 2014 to 2024.
While years have passed, fans were captivated by the striking resemblance in his unique bowling technique, reinforcing why Bumrah is regarded as one of the finest fast bowlers India has ever produced.

The video gained attention at a time when Bumrah’s surprise inclusion in India’s squad for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh sparked discussion.
Having last played red-ball cricket in March 2024, many expected Bumrah to be rested, especially with a hectic international schedule looming, including Tests against New Zealand and a highly anticipated series against Australia later this year.
However, selectors, led by Ajit Agarkar, might have other plans. Bumrah’s selection for the Bangladesh series seems strategic, aimed at ensuring the pacer stays match-fit for the upcoming crucial fixtures.
Bumrah has been India’s go-to bowler in overseas conditions, especially in Australia, where his ability to extract bounce and swing has been vital.
With 32 wickets in just seven matches in Australia, his record speaks volumes. His potential to play a significant role in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy means India cannot afford to have a rusty Bumrah stepping straight into action.
The first Test against Bangladesh, starting in Chennai, presents an opportunity for Bumrah to ease back into red-ball cricket. While spin is expected to dominate the series, Bumrah’s workload will likely be managed carefully, possibly playing just one Test to fine-tune his rhythm.
