NEW DELHI: Young India batter Sarfaraz Khan lauded Virat Kohli‘s unwavering commitment and enthusiasm for cricket as the team prepares for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Sarfaraz emphasized that Kohli’s approach to the game is unparalleled.
“Virat Kohli bhaiya’s passion, love and dedication for the game is something different. And I admire him a lot.He always says I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna take on this bowler. His guts, his willpower is amazing,” Sarfaraz told Jio Cinema.
Sarfaraz, who made his Test debut against England earlier this year, has been selected for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh. In his three Test appearances for India, he amassed 200 runs at an impressive strike rate of 79.37.
During his debut match, Sarfaraz captured the attention of cricket fans with a brisk 62-run innings off just 66 deliveries. His recent performances have earned him a call-up for the forthcoming Tests against Bangladesh.
The two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh is set to commence on September 19 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The second Test will be played in Kanpur, starting from September 27.
The 26-year-old also had kind words for India’s star batter and captain, Rohit Sharma, describing him as more than just a teammate.
Sarfaraz also showered praise on Rohit Sharma and said that the India skipper doesn’t treat anyone like a junior.
“He’s very different, makes you comfortable and is like an elder brother to us. I enjoy playing with him. He never treats you like a junior. He’s a positive guy. The way he speaks, it boosts your confidence,” Sarfaraz said.
“Lagaan is my favourite movie. In that, the way Aamir Khan assembles his team, Rohit bhai reminds me of that. For me, he’s Lagaan’s Aamir Khan. It feels like he’s part of your family,” he added.
